S60 Base Catalytic converter removal
I have a 2002 S60 with the regular 5 cylinder engine in it. I am trying to remove the catalytic converter to replace it but the passenger side drive shaft is in the way. I need to remove that drive shaft but the easiest way to remove it is not obvious. Does any one have any experience with this replacement or the removal of that drive shaft and could offer me some advice or point me in the right direction for some instructions? Thanks, Robert

On my 2003 non turbo the axle shaft doesn't pass near the exhaust Just remove the two hanging rubber pieces and four bolts on the exhaust pipe. Note how the break fluid line passes near the cat bracket, to replace it later on
While the cat is out, I,d check the flex pipe, it breaks after 10 years and needs replaced (cut&weld). Usually it starts leaking near the exhaust flange.

On my car the catalytic converter is a large diameter that will not clear the area between the steering mechanism and the drive shaft for the passenger side. I have already had the catalytic converter completely free of the exhaust pipe and engine block.
