parking brake issue

I've done PB several time with no prob on various 850, V70, and C70s. This time I am having trouble fitting the drum over it on the drivers side. Even replaced the pb cable and clasp at the wheel in hopes that those parts were worn. Any tips or ideas would be appreciated, still no good after several tries. Also tried several brands of pb pads. Seems like the top adjuster pushes them apart too far even when fully closed. Drum fits over pb without top adjuster installed. No problems on passenger side. Strange- Not sure what I am doing wrong

Pictures of the wheel end assembly might help ID any oddities.

Compare your parts to make sure they match. There are two different sets of shoes for the P80s.

Are your adjusters backed all the way off?

If you greased the adjusters make sure you didn't get a slug of grease into the cup , which will stop the adjuster from seating fully

Are your rotors new? If they're not they may have a rust ridge on the inside that's preventing the rotor from sliding past the shoes. Hitting it with some sandpaper will fix it right up.

Abscate. The pb pads that came off had the adjuster build in attached. For The ones I am installing they needed to also have the adjuster purchased and installed separately. I doubt that matters since the other side went on fine. Will follow advice and post pic once I go back in there. Tkx

96 850 4dr. Auto, 235,000... relatively trouble free miles. OK first question some one will no doubt ask is... why bother with the PB car has an automatic?
Its required and tested to see if it works, in NJ when a new driver takes their state driver test.

Here is a pic of what came off. Note the adjuster is attached to the pad bracket. I have not gotten back to the parking brake repair yet and I will upload those pics when I do. Hoping a short hiatus from the car may give me a fresh look at the situation. Replacement PB brake is volvo OEM (made in China) and the new adjuster is volvo OEM too. new Cable was not OEM. New cable clasp is OEM.
