Leak at master cylinder reservoir 98 v70

Post by skloon »

Just did the brakes on a new to me 98v70 including a master cylinder-I have a huge leak where the reservoir attaches-should there be an o-ring there ? I see one listed for 99 up but not the 98

Fluid or air leak?

If fluid then there is a problem with the master cylinder rear seal as there is no fluid in the booster.

Vida does not show a seal between the booster and master cylinder on a 98, and as you correctly say, there is on the 99-. Is there a provision for a seal on the master cylinder body? The 99- use a different booster.

There has to be at least a rubber grommet the reservoir snaps into - it can't seal hard plastic into metal.

I think those seals are part of the MC assembly though.
