93 volvo 850 glt - No power to a/c compressor

Compressor is not kicking in. Took car to the shop. They can not find the problem, determined that compressor is working when they hot wired it.
Shop does not have diagnostic tools to find out why compressor is not getting any power.
Anyone have any ideas ? Thanks from hot florida

Do you have manual climate control or electronic?

If you lose pressure in the system, it won't turn the compressor on. Did you check for pressure? These cars develop leaking evaporators frequently.
