Lower torque mount

eEuroparts lists 2 Hutchinson lower torque mounts - one soft and one stiff. The stiff one is almost double the price. eEuro says the stiff one has harder rubber. Anyone used this?

Another option I'm thinking of is to upgrade my current OEM torque mount with the small poly bushing. I could buy the one from ipd that comes with the billet aluminum housing, or I could buy an entire poly bushing mount from eEuro for half the price and just take out the small bushing with housing and transfer that to my OEM mount. Anyone tried this?

BTW, while we're discussing mounts - I know people use the beefier XC90 strut mounts on regular P80s. Are there any equivalent heavy-duty rear shock mounts for P80s?

Thanks for your reply. I've heard Powerflex is quite stiff and causes vibration inside the car. I'm looking for the middle ground between OEM and full poly bushings, so the options I've found so far are the (1) "HD" Hutchinson bushing and (2) just replacing the small bushing with poly. Using the Powerflex method would be too much work to remove the old rubber. Easier to get just the ipd one or the cheap Pro Parts all-poly mount and swap out the section with the small bushing by removing the bolts.

I am working with 2 Swedish companies to see if there is an option from there, in particular for the rear smaller bush which is the one that tends to fail. I would do what you are considering and just swap the rear one out.

Once I get a full answer I will post back. I plan to re-furb the 2 I have that have just the rear bush failed with a rear poly bush. I realise this will stress the front more over time.

No, if you mean in Sweden.

The companies I am trying to work with are Skruvat and vparts. Don't think the vparts will go anywhere though.

Surprisingly for Swedes they don't appear to be very well versed with older Volvos!!

I know of no heavy duty mounts for the rear shock.

For the (front) strut mounts the XC90 part and the P80 part are now exactly the same thing, if you buy them from Volvo. Same part number, same item, has been that way for 3 or 4 years now. Volvo caught on and stopped even selling the lighter weight mount. Just an FYI.

erik, if you check the Powerflex link I added above, the last item is a lower shock mount in poly.

Thanks Erik. I bought a Rein brand XC90 mounts from FCP. Are these good quality for mounts?

Neil, that rear shock poly bushing is interesting - first time I've seen anything like it. Kinda pricey, though. I'd get new shocks if the bushings were shot.
