2005 S60R Retaining Front Dash Speaker

Post by Atomicbros »

I am new to the forum and have recently acquired a 2005 Volvo S60R with 60,000 miles. I had to replace the rear deck speakers because they were broken. I am looking to replace the head unit but everything I have read states that I will lose the front dash speaker use. Is there any way that I can remedy this or has anyone done this before. I am looking to replace the head unit with a Blaupunkt 220BT model. Thanks

What's the question?
Will you lose the front dash speaker, 99% of the time yes.
Unless you can find a 5 channel stereo (they do exist or used to) then you can unplug the existing small speaker harness and wire it into the new HU or....
you can also wire it to work in line with the front door speakers but remember, it a very small speaker that only uses 10 watts from the HUH, NOT the larger amp.
There is no existing aftermarket speaker that can replace (fit) the stock one, so you are stuck using this one.
If you have it wired to a larger amp I think it would blow out quite quickly

Thanks for the quick response. I am going to stay stock other than changing the head unit. So i would like to wire stock front dash speaker to one of the front speakers and be done . What are your thoughts?

You will see the harness/wires when you remove the radio and the speaker.
You just need someone who knows audio better than I do to test the wires and to figure out which 2 or 3 wires out of it on the radio end you will need. Then wire them into the front speakers properly.
There's a correct way to do it, I'm not an audio person but many are and they will easily know how to do it.
