V70 amp

Post by Peteseagull »

Hi,

I have a 1998 Volvo V70 and I need a replacement amp for the radio.
The amp is located under the Driver's seat and the model number is 9452029.
I have been told by the breakers yard that they have never seen an amp like this and it has either been retro-fitted or is possibly from an imported vehicle.....can anyone help

Thanks

They are the standard optional amp as fitted to 98-00 models in North America. It could be added to the SC-816 single disc CD player or more commonly the SC-900/901 head unit with the built in 3CD changer. These last 2 had no built in amp. They are getting harder to find even over here. I used to have a bunch and shipped them when MVS enthusiasts need them. I'd have to check if I still have any. I know I have 1or 2 that need the case re-painted (the crackle paint tends to bubble over time and flake off. Mind you if your units case is good you could swap it over as I don't know when I will get around to getting them powder coated. I also need to check I have tested them as I never sell them on without first ensuring they work. There is another part number for these. The part numbers are not found in Volvo databases as they where sold as part of a kit and that has a different part number.

If you search the MVS data base you should find info on this. Check this:

Hi,

Thanks so much for your response.
Your'e right, its fitted in conjunction with the 3 CD model you mentioned.
I actually still have the amp but the radio/cd player produces no sound although all the other functionality appears normal.
Tha amp itself lives under the drivers seat so I'm not concerned about appearance.
Fixing it may be an option but wouldn't know who to try.
your help is greatly appreciated

Pete

As to fixing the original. I am not sure. I'll ask my brother in Scotland if he knows anyone as he works with electronics.

Feel free to PM me and I can give you my direct e-mail.
