I might be the first one to ask what symptoms do you have that might be caliper related? Noise, pulsation, vibration, shimmy, shake, etc. I see you have the caliper already but does it need replacing might be the first question to ask. (I now see others basically beat me to it). You'll need pads a front set, a line replaced at least one, and a proper flush of fluid. Assuming all goes well. One thing leads to another so there is a risk of a complication along the way. First, do no harm.

One wheel is about an hours labor.
you can save about $100 if you can do it yourself instead. See Abscate's link below. Also, providing your own parts may void any normal warrantee from garage.

Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Never trust tireshops. Here in holland we have the notorious kwikfit franchise who always finds extra problems with your 'cheap yearly test or cheap new tires'
I just now finished rebuilding my rear left caliper. It was sticking like mad when rolling. But up on the jack i could hardly move the wheel. Like yours.
I Never did this before. Yes lots of brake work i did. But no pistons out of calipers.
But its actually a very easy to do job.
Especially with some compressor to push out the pistons and old crap oil and dirt.
Got a whole rebuilt set with new rubbers, pistons, grease, nipple, etc for 30 euro for the back.
Fronts were 29 euro a side.
A fake rebuilt front caliper is around 80 euro here.
I chose to keep mine original.
Just a matter of real good cleaning. A wire brush goes a long way. Or a copperbrush on a handdrill. Filing some rust away. Greasing the pads up in the right place with coppergrease. Cleaning the pins so the oads move well. The piston holes and the pistons. If needed with some very fine wetsand paper.
Took me 2 hours and it was back on the car. And it is a world of difference. Those pistons were stuck, dirty and rusty. Now they just smoosh and slush back and forth like new
Indeed the line is the worst of it all! i took of the line further up. It would NOT come of at the caliper itself.
