Whats the "Sport" button for?
you press it and you automatically get the sports star of your choice to sit in the passenger seat!
Joking ofcourse!
Good question. the car can operate in economy and sport. If you want a more spirited ride then the cars computer changes the tranny shift rate and engine revs to make it be more "sportier"

Its a great question..sorry just had to have a chuckle.. i always wondered what it did when i first got my volvo.
i think you will find it only effects the tranny and engine..the rest of the car stays the same.
Many more surprises come from owning a volvo...most are very good!

Lighten up, this board is a heck of a lot less brutal than some of the others. The short answer to your question is that it changes the rpm shift points to more or less maximize fuel economy and minimize fun.listen, i know its a newbi question and i know about the rpm's. but i was just wondering if it tightens up the suspension or things like that, not only affecting the transmition...sorry
They aren't quite F-1 enough to change ride height and brake bias settings.

Just adding on here
As others have said, it affects only the transmission. "Sport" mode will
1) Hold each gear longer and with less accelerator pressure than "Economy" mode.
2) Downshift earlier and with less accelerator pressure than "Economy" mode.
3) Shift more firmly between gears than "Economy" mode.

What kind of drop in mileage did you see from switching in between the two?
