Hi all, I finally had enough issues to take apart the D pillar to sort out wire damage caused by the L tailgate hinge. So I got everything apart and the culprit(s) pretty much jumped out at me. I got the butt connectors on and 2 out of 3 issues are gone.
1. How did y'all put it back? I really don't want to rig bag up with a zip tie to that little clip, maybe a tad looser?
2. Where have all the wiring diagrams gone? I know they are not posted publicly anymore, but are there any others devoted to the XC wagon? My remedy fixed my rear demister, rear wiper rest position, but it did not fix the tailgate open light on my dash.....I suppose I will need to replace the latch mechanism.

I usually splice in an extra chunk of wire but then again I use solder and heat shrink so that the splices don't get too big around. With the little bit of extra wire the harness can be routed in a little bit more relaxed position but over enough time it will break again.
The schematics can be found here:

There are mostly complete but it is a struggle to find things since the pages didn't get scanned in order.

I just taped everything back up after hacking up the covering. The clip on my car broke, so it still moves. I would try to loosely tie everything back up a little bit.
My license plate lights still don't work all the time, and my rear wiper stops in random positions. Whatever I've done in there has only made things worse...

Thanks folks. I could not make it much longer without rear demister.
rear wiper was the 1st hint I got, it would stop wherever I turned it off and I would try and time it so I'd hit the switch at the rest side.
rear demist as the colder weather comes is a necessity.
I will be trying the double zip tie action since I have a good feeling I'll be back in here at some point.
one last point, I undid the trim piece covering the top rear hatch light area before slowly unsnapping the top side trim, it gave a bit more wiggle room for removal. remove the light and the 2 circles caps/torx
