Fix for windshield rubber cracking?

Post by Stine »

Hello,

I just got a new-to-me Vovlo! I love it!

did anybody come up with a fix for the unsightly cracking rubber of the trim that runs up the windshield?

Are these rubber pieces important for water tightness?

I have a 2007 V70 that used to have Euro rails (the previous owner removed them).

Has anybody figured out a way to use some other sort of rubber trim instead of the out-of-production original part? What specific type of rubber did you use?

Could I just take the rubber out and fill it in with a silicone?

I am attaching a few pictures from my car. It appears that the clips for the Euro rails are still there.

Thank you so very much for your help!
