Question about jack stand points

Post by neworleans »

Hello all,

I am in the process of replacing the subframe on my S60 and would like to make sure about the jack stand points while doing this work.
I am planning to do the same thing in the picture. Is this a safe way to support the car?
I always put the jack stands under the triangle plates where the subframe connects to the body but this time can't to free the subframe.
Please advise.

Thanks.

Not sure, there may be a better spot.https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =1&t=52117 I have not had to jack that far back, but with the wood distributing the load it might be ok, If its not bending or distorting the area. I alway have something besides just jack stands, ( a floor jack, tires , stacked 4 by 4 lumber) just in case it falls off the jack stands, you wont be crushed. It does not even have to be tight , just to give you some space if it falls.

I'd use 4 jacks and a bit wider piece of wood, just to make sure car won't slide on it. Also absolutely block rear wheels with a good rubber chocks.

Thank you guys.
Vtl, do you have another pic available that is taken from the side view?
I just like to see where you put the rear ones.

Into standard scissor jack points. They don't take much load in my setup, it's more for safety redundancy. My smaller (red) jacks can be positioned there, so they don't touch the car's body.
