Volvo V70 Help

Post by Peteseagull »

Can anyone help.
I have a 1998 V70 which has SC101 head unit (I think) it is fitted with the under seat amp 9452029.
The amp is faulty and cannot be repaired unless anyone knows where I can have a schematic.
Replacement amps of this type are around £100 and difficult to find so I was wondering if I could fit a replacement head unit using the same wiring which either has the amp in it or can be connected to the more common type of amp that is readily available 9472301 or 8673135.
Thanks all

Pete, can you check the radio model number? If it is the 3-CD built in unit it is either a SC-900 or the newer SC-901. In either case they use the amp you are suggesting or the other one I suggested is a later version of the same one # 9496557 which I have already mentioned to you. There is an older amp that fits behind the radio unit, but I have never seen one or how it is connected to know if it works with the 3CD radio head units. The other option I suggested is to swap in an SC-815 or SC-816 single CD head unit which has the in-built amp. That only requires disconnecting the amp extension wires behind the radio at the 2 foam wrapped connector plugs and the 2 wire connectors can then be connected directly to the rear of the single CD-units.

Hi,

Yes its the SC901 I think.
Will it have the same plugs at the back?

Thanks

The SC-901 is an Alpine made deck that's easily
the best HU that ever shipped with these cars.
It's absolutely worth keeping!

What makes you think that the amp is dead?
Any chance you just blew a fuse?

And - Are all the speakers stock
with no add-ones or alterations?

I sent the amp off to a car audio repair place and they said that some of the internal components had blown and they had no schematic to replace them as the amp is quite rare

If it is an Alpine unit, can one source the NLS amp-to-head unit cable from Alpine? Anybody ever checked?
