key in doorlock fails

Post by kvengel »

Hi,
I have a 2007 s60 (2.5 turbo) the key fobs work just fine but to use the key in the drivers door does nothing.
The manual lock rotates with the key just it does not unlock door.
Anything I should know before I open up the door panel?
Thanks,
Keith

Sounds like a failure in the driver door lock module. I've never dived into one if these on a P2

Looking in Alldata,it looks nasty ..rivets drilled out in doir to remove the lock module, etc. might've a candidate for body shop .

$100 part, 1 hour shop labour in the estimator

And all this talk about dreadlocks? I didn't know cars had hair let alone Rasta.....

Thanks for your help,
nothing worst then having something apart & it being completely un-repairable.
Will book it at the dealership & fill you in thanks.

I just suffered through this with my P80 rear latch - brass part riveted together, needs a $5 plastic bit, but replacement part $160

Ok sorry for the delay,
I popped the skin off, (the last warm day we had!)
drilled out the window guide rivet at the bottom of the door (replaced with a bolt).
turns out the rod from the door handle fell off.
Hand the new one in my hand so i used it anyway just zip tied the clip! with some extra reinforcement.
All good
Thanks folks!
