94 Volvo 850 Check Engine light

Post by VolvoFan86 »

a while ago, my service engine light began lighting up every time i started up my 94 volvo 850, but after about a minute or so it always shut of. A week or so later, the check engine light came on, and it stayed on. I tried checking the error code through the A2 socket, but came up with nothing. Does anyone know what's up here? Has anyone had similar problems and know of a solution? It could be that I just checked the engine codes incorrectly, so if someone has a good online tutorial to checking the codes could you please share?

Thank you ahead of time.

Service light and Check Engine are seperate... completely independent.

Service light is a timed interval to remind you to have your oil changed. It always turns off after 2 minutes.

Check Engine alerts you to emissions-related anomalies detected in the car's systems. I can't explain why there are no codes though.
