To buy or not to buy

I found a 93/94 Turbo wagon with Manual tranny, no AC and a fair amount of rust and a rusted off exhaust in the classifieds for 1000 euro. Wondering if I should get it as a winter backup car with the long-time purpose of having a spare motor and some spare parts for my 96 R.
I guess it´s not worth saving in the long run, especially w/o AC and the rust, but it might be nice for hauling the kids to kindergarten and taking it to the track.
Btw, Turbo rims (probably columbas) are included, sot these alone are worth 200, and a spare motor probably is worth 500+ as well (hope I never need one, but who knows?)

I did well on my parts car, but for the big items, it is hard to recover the cost of labor to harvest them. I put a 25 USD value on my labor time, and found I could not recover that cost for instance, in removing the engine.

I got lucky with a local person who I put the removal on them, after they paid for the engine up front.

You do learn quickly why the PnP deal in the easy to remove, expensive parts, and get rid of the rest.

it´s not about making money, my job luckily serves me well enough. It´s more the idea of having a turbo motor on hand in case mine fails (they are rare here due to ridiculously high taxes). plus, it would be fun to drive a T5M for a while.
