S60 2003 N/A weird engine shuts off

Before it shuts down, does the rpm gauge drop below 700rmp? That might mean the throttle body is sticking, needs a cleaning around the butterfly valve in and out, easy to do on the non turbo.

But the fact you get the clock reset, means more of a shortcut somewhere. Not something typical on this car. Was the car in an accident?

Maybe look inside the ECM box, in front of the power steering reservoir. Maybe some electrical component is moving when braking, causing a some undue electrical contact.

It's strange the radio does reset. The clock will reset, but not the radio when the battery is disconnected. What would reset is the climate controls (go on automatic).

Thanks so i just cleaned maf and throttle body which was quite dirty. Also cleaned connectors and terminals again and the car seems all right though the idle is now a bit higher at 800 rpm.. i will have to test it thoroughly to see if this fixed the issue

When you cleaned the throttle body did you experience a bit higher rpm?

Mainly, the rpm was only dropping from 750rpm to 500rpm when slowing to a stop, then going right back to 750rpm.

What about fuel pressure sensor? Any way to know if mine is bad? There was a recall i believe

You need Bosch 0261230109 or 0261230236 for your Non turbo. Look at the torx screw: if it's really rusted, the sensor might be old. I'm not sure if it can be tested in some way.

Also, but not related to your issue, having the non turbo, at the front of the air filter box is a thermostat for the intake air, which fails at 10 years old and causes high fuel consumption. See this video

Nice Enrique and orangex....that's the fuel pressure regulator on the end of the fuel rail. On P2 cars that controls fuel delivery of course

Thanks, also if you see the picture of my air filter box, there's no other hoses connecting it to the assembly that sucks fresh air located above the grill. Could this be creating an unusual condition and possibly be the cause of my stalling issues?
