Just bought a '07 S40 AWD T5 with 6 speed manual transmission. So, I'm back in the Volvo fold again sort-of-speak and will probably be posting again. This is a sweet car- the original owner was military and bought it in Germany and took it to Heico to have tons of upgrades there. The guy I bought it from also did some crazy upgrades through Elevate...it's at stage 1- hits 320HP from what I understand. So far there are no issues except one of the rear tires seems to bottom out over bad bumps or grades. The guy who sold it to me had just installed new tires (225/40/18) which may need a camber adjustment on the rears (yes, he installed a camber kit too).. Anyway, I'm sure I'll have questions. This car is a delight and in awesome shape at just 67,000 miles! It's a sreamer!!

Hey MIJ,
I just got the same base, no upgrades or custom tuning that I know about but seems to have all the factory options. This is my first Volvo; love the 6-speed turbo. First thing I notice is the premium sound is the best I've ever had on wheels. Auto sound has come a long way since the auto-reversing Pioneer cassette deck I was so proud of in H.S. (circa '70-73). Note: I think I have more gray than you, not willing to post a mug shot at this point. The same music sounds a lot better through these pipes. Mine is fire engine red, I hope that does not attract the lawmen as they say... My A/C clutch growls a bit but it is winter, so not sure if it cools properly yet. It has already had a shim at the dealer. The steering seems to pull a bit, which I think is low pressure on one of the front wheels. First I thought I had a slow leak, but after we had a cold/warm cycle, it dropped to 25 PSI then recovered to 35PSI after it warmed up again. I hope these low profile tires are not that sensitive to temperature swings. I have three fobs, I think all were either factory or dealer provided. All are recognized as 'married' to the vehicle, but only one is full function; others are partial. One starts, does not lock, but starts; other does not start but locks. Could make for full pockets if the main key fails! One has no pattern on the valet key, not sure what's up with that. I have a lot to learn moving up from a 2000 Accord and '96 Dodge Dakota!
I'll be watching this space to see how yours breaks in.

Hey Bob- great to hear about your purchase!! Yes, the sound is incredible isn't it?!?!! About the FOB- I only got one but lucky for me, it works great! The only problem is my habit of pulling it out of the ignition cylinder but leaving it there...did that the other day and locked myself out of the car. The little slender key can be ordered from eBay and Ace Hardware cut one for me so I have a spare valet key. You might consider getting yours cut too! Or, I might offer you a price for your extra FOB with the uncut key...I know that the dealer can marry the Fob to my car and would be good to have 2! Anyway, no rush and certainly, if you don't want to part with one I totally understand, especially since they all don't work. So, one question- what size tires are you running? My car has aftermarket OZ wheels and I have 18's on mine- a bit over-sized to say the least. With Heico suspension I had to get the rear fenders rolled to keep the tires from scraping...that was one of the first things I did- it was either that or change out for smaller wheels and tires and that was going to cost a whole lot more. Anyway, it's good to have another S40 M-6 T5 owner here!!

FYI, dealers cannot swap key fob's between cars. A dealer CAN take an unused bubble-pack OEM key and program your car to it, for $$. While you're at it, have the dealer REMOVE the missing key fobs from the car's key-list. You can check the number of registered keys from the car's menu.

Yes, I saw the missing key is programmed to my car... I'll probably wait on all of this. I do have contact information for the first owner. May try contacting him- I know it's a long shot but it could be he found the missing fob some time ago and never pitched it- who knows.
