2001 C70 PCV Question

2001 C70 convert 160K miles Just had cam seal let go and it spilled 5 quarts of oil around the timing belt and serp belt area. Will dig in and replace the cam seals and I am assuming I will need to do PCV system due to pressure build-up, and new belts due to oil drenching them.

Does anyone here flush their pcv oil trap #1271988 and special hose #9470330... (see pictures of parts I am referring to) with gunk or brake fluid and reuse these parts? Thoughts?

I would reuse the trap after cleaning, but replace that hose. They get brittle and plugged and I think replacement is smart.

I usually flush those two parts. The kits sold through Volvo suppliers should have all of the other parts you need.

I would NOT assume the system needs serviced unless you have blowby. In that case, do a compression test before tearing into the PCV. Sometimes seals work themselves out without the PCV being bad.

The plastic vacuum hose on the later PCV is really easy to break on either removal or install. At least have the part in hand when you do the job so you don't get stuck.
