Activate right rear fog light 2001 V70xc
Activate right rear fog light 2001 V70xc
I want to use that fog light. Is there a wire or socket already there? Has anyone done this? When it's real foggy I want to be seen.

People will think you have two sets of brake lights
Do NOT do it.
Illegal for one thing and one is enough to be seen.

Hallo. Are you still searching?
I recently joined because of a similar problem. I recently resolved it through a combination of accurate pointers from members, i.e. there are no relays in this circuit, to buying a new switch and continuity testing at the tail lamp holder, circuit end. This resulted in fabricating a simple wire jumper, to what I erroneously thought to be an intentionally broken circuit. It did the job anyway and you can see it all on my post. I've not had a chance to take some snaps.
Since then, I've got a VIDA manual and found a dead easy solution! Whether or not there is a rear fog light, is down to which lower tail light lamp holder is fitted. There are two types, #3512418 w/rear fog light circuit and #3512419 w/o rear fog light circuit! If you have the latter holder, you can still go down the jumper route to enable the rear fog light.
Hope this helps.

Agreed. There's a good reason there's only one.
The option to turn on the other side is for markets where they drive on the wrong side to keep the one that's lit up on the side of the car towards the middle of the road.

Yes, the original feature when it was legislated was for one only so the rear fog is distinguished from a brake light and shows at a greater distance away if it is foggy. A car traveling at high speed can see that they can pass a fog light car but if it is brake lights then the high speed car needs to try to stop as there may be a reason the car has brake lights on.

In the UK, in 1989, one rear fog became obligatory either at the centre or to the right side of the vehicle. There was no limit to the maximum number but they had to be matching and evenly spaced. Dimensions are prescribed.
The maximum number became two, in October 1979. The lights must still be matching and evenly spaced.
As to who's driving on the "wrong" side of the road is dependant on where you live and also if carrying a sword! Which is why in the UK, we continue to drive on the left and consequently, I doubt if there will be a "Högertrafikomläggningen".
