960 A/C Button Light/LED Replacement

Post by dbrahms »

hello fellow volvo owners. anyone know how to replace the blue led (assuming led) indicator light that is illuminated when turning on the A/C?

the a/c works just fine but the light no long comes on when the a/c is turned on. just a moderate annoyance.

couldnt find any links on the web that shows how to remove the climate control panel to change these lights.

thanks.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

I think it is a bulb rather than a LED and it is my understanding that the blue light should come on when the A/C is switched off i.e the button is depressed.

ummmmm dont think so. why would the light go off when the A/C is turned on? maybe you just typed it wrong. buttin pushed in makes the a/c blow cold. button in the out position (sticking out) turns off the a/c

regardless, I need to know how to change the light. thats all.

Only if the Owner's Manual has got it wrong.

I am still researching how to change the light.

My '90 760 ECC has the "snowfllake" graphic ( instead of A/C OFF ) and the light comes on when air is on...

IT'S A CONSPIRACY !!!

Anyhoo, poor dbrahms just wants to know how to change the friggin bulb or LED or whatever the heck it is. I would suspect a bulb. What year's the 960? Maybe someone changed out the ECC.

To remove the control unit gently prise off the plastic surround to locate four torx screws. Remove the screws and slide the unit out of its housing. Remove the two wiring plugs from the rear of the unit.

You should now see 6 lamps in the control module. The lamps can be changed without removing the unit cover.
