I have a 94 960 that has developed a stumble and hesitation from low rpm. When I first checked things out, I found no fire in cylinder #2. Checked coils, injectors, harness (will need replacing when source is discovered), ignition modules, and injector and coil relays. While cleaning everything up and checking things out I put plugs in and verified all of the rest. Also, cleaned the maf sensor and throttle body. The car does run much better that when I started, but still has a slight hesitation and putter at low rpm. The only other thing I have noticed is that the temp gauge pegs to hot which it never did before even though the car is not overheating. Can anyone share any experience in this area which will help me figure this one out?
Thanks,
indyisl7

Not much...so get several tanks of Top Tier Gas, and head out on the highway.indyisl7 wrote:Can anyone share any experience in this area which will help me figure this one out?

Funny and somewhat disheartening that there is not a lot of activity on these older rwd model forums anymore. I struggled to gather information on the
1997 960 I picked up in the early part of last year.
I am wondering if maybe you may have a head gasket issue. Noticing any coolant loss? I purchased my 960 based on the previous owners less than honest disclosure of the vehicle's issues. Turned out they were selling it at an estate sale not allowing test drives. So, I have learned my lesson....ended up doing a head gasket on the car, and it as been fantastic since.
My car a noticeable miss at idle... used coolant. and you could see the steam in the exhaust. The car drove fine on the highway when you got it over a certain RPM, the miss was imperceptible. I would maybe check compression test and see about doing a leak down test.
If it turns out to be the head gasket...well then you have some soul searching to do, as it is a rather labor intensive undertaking...and will require some specialty tools.
Good luck and keep us posted as to what you find.
Cheers,
