2005 Volvo S40 - ALL Rear tail lights are out

Post by MemphisSlim »

2005 Volvo S40

ALL OF THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS are OUT except for the turn indicators which DO work.
The Reverse light is also OUT

WHAT WORKS?
The center-rear glass brake light DOES WORK
The license plate lights DO WORK

*The bulbs all appear fine- I could replace them all anyway but doubt all would burn out at once..
*I checked fuse #57 on mine (On-board computers, brake lights) -looks fine
*I checked fuse #79 on mine (reverse lights) looks fine
*I see no other fuse in owner's manual that seems pertinent but was planning to pull every one of them and check them out for the heck of it...

Any Suggestions on what to logically check next??

About had it with this car!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance

That's a tough one...Anyone lend MemphisSlim a hand?
I was thinking multi-meter but if you get no juice to the rear anyway, I doubt that's where your problem is. Check fuses again. Use a meter on them? Sometimes fuses look okay and they're not. You are talking about the fuse box under the passenger foot-well, right?

Have a look at the https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/downl ... agrams.pdf wiring diagram. You may be able to see if the fuse is energised only when the lights are on. If so, you can check for voltage at the fuse block
