How much for an '89 740 GL

Post by mrreilly »

I'm going to be selling the 740 GL that I was recently given and am wondering how much I should sell it for.
I'm replacing all the belts, timing belt, and touching up any rust spots, wiper blades. I'm also going to clean the crap out of it.
1989 Volvo 740 GL - Silver/Blue interior - 220,000 Miles
-A/C - Pretty sure it works.
-Moon roof
-Radio works some of the time apparently.
-Dash is cracked. I've read that's common in the cars,
-There has been a lot of stuff done to the car as the previous owner would take it in every time something went wrong. Among them, the U-bold, a few other parts I believe in the engine bay.
-Some rust, which I'm taking care of.
-Power windows/locks
-Heated seats
-Very minor leaks. It's been sitting in my driveway for about 3 weeks now and there's barely and spots on the drive.
-Decent full size spare tire
-As far as I know the breaks are fine.
-Tires have a good amount of tread and are holding pressure fine.

What do you think I'd be able to sell it for?

have a look at the autotrader.com. I have seen them go anywhere from 750 to 1500... turbos go for a bit more.. but all depends on the condition.

Okay, I'll check that out.
Thank you.

EDIT: Well, I checked out a bunch of used car sites and found that '89 740's got for a good price. More than I was thinking. Now of course, one I get it running, I'll figure everything out and then set a price. But as of now I'm thinking I'll set the starting price near $1700. A ton of those other 740's had more miles on them than this one. And if everything is running right, I should get a good amount.

Thanks for the suggestion CarVolvo. Not sure why I never though of that...
