I would appreciate help on the following in a 95 850 GLT Turbo:
1. What is the least intrusive way to open a glove box stuck shut because of a broken latch mechanism?
2. The blower works intermittently; it mostly does not work when it's needed most, i.e. when it's damp and raining. Does my car have a fan resistor even though the fan switch suggests that the fan speed is continuously variable?
3. When the fan is not working it does not work at all. Does that indicate that the problem is in the ECC and not the fan resistor (assuming that I have a resistor)? What is the procedure to replace the ECC?

Somehow you are going to have to break something to replace the broken latch, so the recommended part to destroy is the metal hook that the latch locks onto. Get a hack saw blade and slip it in the tight space between the glove box door and the dash just like slipping a slim-jim. Feel the blade towards the metal hook and once you reach it start sawing it away. The metal hook is easily replaceable and inexpensive. Once the glove box door is unlocked, open it up to replace the broken latch.
Be careful with the blade use gentle sawing action as to avoid scratching the globe box door.
Hope this helps,
