I have a short in my 850's electrical system (it's drawing .70 amps), and have trace it down to circuit 15 (the system draws only .06 amps when I remove the fuse). This circuit consist of: courtesy lights, keyless entry unit, onboard power for code reader, and the glove box light.
I have removed the glove box and have access to light unit, but how to properly remove it, to test it, is not intuitively clear. Any suggestions ?
Plus any suggestions or aid on keyless entry box would be helpful. It is in the same area and I will hit that next if glove light unit is not the issue.
Thanks

I'm not sure what you are asking. The glove box light is simply a socketed lamp with a hood. The keyless entry receiver is to the right of the glove box on the A pillar and it has a green colored connector.

Thanks for the response, I am not clear on how to remove the light unit. Is the hood of the unit, which accesses the blub, spring held or screwed in place? Is the push button part of the unit held in place by a clip? I have not removed the dash top, so I do not have a clear view of it. The unit itself appears to be molded in place to the upper dash , so wish to have a bit information before I use brute force.
I removed the light unit and provide the following information for the record. The unit is held in place by a set of saw teeth, one above and one below. When made, the unit was set by pushing it from the back of the dash towards the front. This way when the glove box door strikes the unit it "digs" into the dash and holds it in place.
To remove it requires a small flat face screwdriver to pry the teeth from the dash and a mirror so you can see what you are doing, then push it out towards the engine. The hood is held on by it's driver's side saw tooth, and can be pried off.

As a final note, I finished removing light holder and testing it for the short. It was not the problem. I failed to mention that to access the light or light holder, you must remove the inner (Glove) box. I used Ozark Lee's write up on "Glove Box Removal", which explained the how to do. The short was in the keyless entry module which is under steering column.

Please help, and advise: just where, under the steering column on a '96 850 Turbo, is the keyless entry module? I'm aware of the receiver on the A-pillar behind/to the right of the glove box insert, but not this "module". Could this (instead) be the circuit relay that is being referred to?
