My impression is stop leak as well. Aluminum is heavier than coolant and would settle out over time/stir back up into fresh coolant. In BARS technical documents it states 'Water Pump Lube lubricates water pump seal and inhibits the formation of rust and scale. Compatible with both conventional green or blue (silicate-based) and extended life red/orange or yellow (OAT/HOAT) antifreeze.'
OEs often approve the use of this stuff. What I'm not sure about is when you have a turbo unit in play because of extreme temperatures and the relatively low melting point of aluminum. It's not inconceivable the AU flakes may have a tendency to stick to the passages inside the turbo unit and potentially restrict coolant flow. This question would be best answered by Volvo engineering, or Mitsubishi (who makes the turbo unit for these vehicles). A quick google didn't turn up anything. A Dealer SM would likely know the answer. If I were you I would consult a dealer SM for their impression whether this is really something to worry about or not.
Glitter in coolant?
