That's the heater circuit wiring fault. Get out the VOM and check wiring and fuses,

Was the junkyard replacement identical to the original?

Yes, the replacement 02 sensor is identical and off of identical cars. I looked but could not find a fuse for this sensor.
Do you know where it is?

Found the fuse for emissions system. Unplugged it and swapped with another 20A fuse. Also disconnected battery cables for 15 minutes, touched them together and pushed on the brake pedal for good measure. The car drove great and no CEL until I stopped and then had to start the car again and immediately the CEL came back on. I guess fuel filter is next, or maybe clean the MAF... I have found no vacuum leaks or exhaust leaks. After that, if nothing solves things, I guess I'll install the brand new 02 Denso sensor that came in the mail yesterday. I suppose the one from the junk yard could be weak. Btw, I did visually check the wire to the sensor connector but it looks good. My VOM meter is at the boat which I'll go and get today because I'll be there for a sailboat race and use it in the next few days to probe the voltage. I would be at a loss though as to what to do if I found this to be the issue.

Do you have Torque Pro and an OBD2 dongle by chance? You can check O2 sensor activity on there to make sure you're getting the correct voltage and constant readings.
I would clean the MAF for sure, and the fuel filter would definitely be a good idea as well.

I don't have that software but OBD Car Doctor which wifi's to my cell phone shows some real time data sometimes. I'm not sure why it doesn't do it all of the time. If there is an ! mark on DTC (trouble codes), I can click on the ! and it shows me more. I have tried to get it to come up but it's only come up once for me- don't know why. The time it came up, I looked but didn't realize all the data it was showing and closed the program. I'll try to get that to work again. What I'm interested in I suppose is the voltage to the sensor which should read 12V. Is that right?

I believe correct O2 sensor voltage is 3 volts.

Thanks! I will try to check it. I was speaking of the voltage to the connector. I believe when you probe the hot wire with the ground it should be 12V.
I suppose that this cannot be read by a scan tool- instead it will read the voltage from the 02 sensor itself?

I don't think the scan tool measures the voltages directly, it reports values from the ECU.

The VOM is the tool to measure the voltage at the wire.

Yes, that's what I thought. I would have jumped on this but I lost the port side shroud on my sailboat this past weekend and my Cal25 de-masted...it's bent at a right angle. I'll have to either sleeve it or get a new mast...been dealing with that rather than this car right now....oh, and work which doesn't let up no matter the circumstances. abscate- if you know a good source for sections of masts (I think they call them extrusions), PM me!
