We have Dwyer up here in CT, as always, shipping it is the big problem. Maybe we can find a way to get it to you on the cheap??
Do you know the cross section dimensions? The best part of Cats is the support and parts availability is second to none. I've been thinking Cat 45 for my retirement Cape/Caribbean boat.
Can I tow that with an 850 ( obligatory Volvo content to keep mods off our backs)?

I called Dwyer and they really had nothing...they referred me to a place in California. $1600 +400 for shipping. Could avoid shipping by picking it up, but towing a 30ft mast with a Volvo? yikes! Don't think so. Anyway, even the $1600 is more than what I have in the boat. I'm going to look for repair options. We are off topic here so I'll let the sailboat bit die. I'd have to find cross section dimensions. That said, I was told, if I change out the footer, at 30ft Cat mast would work...anyway, looking at options.

I meant towing the cat 45 with the 850

Charleston Spar in NC is OEM for Cat, last I checked. That's not a bad trip if you can borrow a van/trailer ?

Went to the boat yesterday and took all standing rigging down and the mast and boom off of the boat and repaired the deck where the falling mast pushed in a stantian. A sad day for sure...
It's mother's day today and the family is planning on some fun around the grill mid-afternoon, but now I have time to tackle the 02 sensor issue again.
I was looking for a diagram of the pins on the connector so I know which wires to probe with my multi-meter. Does anyone have a diagram? I thought I had found one and saved it, but apparently not.

Well the good news is that I'm moving on with this car! I figured out 2 black wires are for the heated 02 and so I probed the two that are from the 02 sensor that came out of the car- no continuity whatsoever. I took the connection loose and did the same with the one I put in the car from the junk yard- same thing, no continuity! I then checked a 2nd 02 sensor I had also pulled from the junk yard- Bingo! It has 2.7ohms. I swap out that one for the one that's in the car now and sure enough the CEL is off and I've driven it about 20 miles today and no hiccup! At red lights I no longer get the rpm's bottoming out either- it holds steady. So, now on to other things.
I noticed the antenna (3rd party) I had put in the car no longer raises or lowers anymore. These are cheaply made. The metal part that is on the end of the plastic strip had come off...I could not get it to hold until I added super glue. It is all back in the car and working correctly again.
Next, I tackle the paint. First I sanded and readied the bumper where it was peeling. Next, I started on the roof that is rusted. I'd like to get all the rust out, use rust converter, stand again, use some bondo, sand, prime and then shoot it with some rattle can paint I got for the correct color code. My orbital sander does not have any more discs left for it. I need to buy 5" 8 hole discs. Does anyone recommend a specific grit for this job? Maybe one for the inital sanding and a much finer one for the final before priming and painting? I'll post some pictures. I can order some an assortment pack of different grit sandpaper from Amazon. I'll post some pictures and please give me your opinion. I wanted to show the bumpers first and then the roof...right now I'm just using a wire piece on a drill but I really need to use something to pry the bad paint up with- it's rusted under that a lot of the paint that is bubbled up...otherwise, the rust does end at some point so I'm only looking at an area slightly smaller than a sunroof if it had one.

Once the paint is done, I'm not doing anything more. It has decent tires, TB is not due in the next few months but probably should be done at least within a year. I recharged the AC and it blows cold though I did notice that after 20 minutes or so it's not so cold anymore. I may get under there and do the bread tie trick with the compressor. Also smells heavy of previous cigarette smoker...I have socks full of coffee sitting in the car to help absorb this- it's helping but it may need more help than that. In the end, I hope this goes to a teenage kid who will love it! Kids today don't need expensive cars. Something safe and still somewhat stylish is what they should have. This car has a 6 disc changer in the back...it should be reliable at this point or as reliable as a '99 S70 should be. Still can't figure out how it rusted just on one section of the roof like that. The rest of the paint is in decent shape! Anyway, when I'm finished I hope that the roof at least looks tolerable...or at least isn't an eye sore.

Use whatever grit you need to remove the rust and then gradually increase the grit up to 600 before painting. It has enough grit to have the paint bite but also smooth enough to the eye.
As for the smells, I had the same issue with my car. I bought a baking soda based carpet cleaner with a neutral smell and cleaned all the carpets and interior fabric. The big thing people miss is under the seat, I had petrified candies producing some weird smells.

MIJ, where'd you get your rattle cans from? I have a section that the clearcoat's been removed from and the paint is in horrible shape. Might be a fun project to attempt. I certainly don't think I could make stuff any worse!

Haha, clear coat isn't the easiest thing to repair without repainting the whole panel, but I highly recommend the urethane-based clearcoat from Automotive Touchup (automotivetouchup.com). I got paint from them to repaint my car, and I'm very happy with the results.theWIFES_S70 wrote: ↑16 May 2017, 08:17 MIJ, where'd you get your rattle cans from? They do make a rattle can clear coat, so it would be worth a try. I tried Duplicolor's clear coat and black paint on a test panel, and it came out like crap.
