Ok, since I don't have any patience I parked it in the shade with hood open and made a sandwich.
A couple things, pulled coil #5 and there was oil in the spark plug cavity. This is partially my fault due to cleaning out a leak on top of the heat the ornery day. The front left upper engine mount bolt that is stripped out by some previous mechanic barbarian is leaking. This is something that I have been trying to repair for the last month, but it still seems to weep oil. Today I cut a two inch piece of 14g electrical wire, stripped the insulation and dropped it down the hole for the bolt. Lathered on some RTV and screwed the bolt in and it tightened down. Before I could spin it with a ratchet easily, whether that holds we'll see.
Back to the #5 cylinder, cleaned out all the residue and oil, cleaned the coil and cleared the codes. Drove it around and so far so good.
Side note, I cleaned up the wiring and somehow mashed one to the VVT solenoid pins to the side which also threw a code. Sooo, I fixed that as well after a few select words regarding my handy work.
I'll update in a few days whether this resolve my misfire code.

I hope it all holds but don't be surprised if the misfire comes back and it's the no 5 coil.
Some R&D genius thought an engine mount bolt should go between cylinder 5 and 6, nothing surprises me anymore with this car. It's just one bad design decision after the other. That being said, I do love the car.Cees Klumper wrote: ↑15 May 2017, 00:03 I hope it all holds but don't be surprised if the misfire comes back and it's the no 5 coil.
