XC70 trunk hatch clearance?

Hi, everyone, I'm sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place, but this is all that immediately seemed applicable.

I'm actually looking for a new car soon, and the XC70 has my eye. But I'm a drummer and so I need to make sure I've got enough clearance to get my drums in...

So what I'm wondering is if anyone could tell me the clearance in width & height of the trunk with the hatch fully open? (I'm hoping it's wide enough to fit a ferociously large bass drum in case in there)

I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

What year XC would be helpful. From '01 the size and shape slightly changed...maybe you're asking for both styles (pre '01 and '01 and newer) since you say from the beginning that you're posting in the wrong forum? Please let us know and I think you'll get some responses.

I'm interested in a newer XC -- anything from 2005 to present.

Nice post Bill....I was looking for the on-line owner's manual but no dimensional information in those.

In regards to the latch/hinge- nothing protrudes inside of the cabin, so the measurements that the brochure shows is pretty much what you get. Of course the back seats will fold flat giving you that much more room for drums.
