any US owners who had their radio unlocked over the phone?

Post by wildatheart »

I recently purchased an SC-815 headunit for my 850 on eBay (US), though I am in the UK.

I called my dealer with the VIN number of the car (a V70) it came out of, but as this is a US car, he wasn't able to get the unlock code on his computer.

Are there any US owners here who had their radio unlocked over the phone, and if so, could you give me the number (and person?) you called? I would be hugely grateful. The VIN number -just in case somebody here is able to be uber helpful is yv1ls5642w1429913.

Many thanks!

No, Volvo dealers will not give you the code over the phone to unlock the radio. you have to actually go to a dealer and they will suply you with the code for the radio.

However I CAN do it for you.
The VIN is NOT the number I need, (it may work if that's the car it originally came out of and is the original radio).
I need that PLUS all the numbers on the top of the radio.
IM me with ALL the numbers (there are two rows) and I'm sure I can get you the code.
When you IM (PM) me please put them in the order you see them, top to bottom, I'm just going to print out the page.
I'll get back to you within 24-48 hours

I got mine given to me over the phone from a Volvo dealer.

There's always those exceptions that don't work, most of the time I'm successful, my dealer will give it to me
(you provided all the numbers I need so I should get back to you tonight)

I called the local dealer here and they gave me a code for my car over the phone. It didn't work, but they still gave it to me. I then found where someone had written it in the owners manual. That one worked.

You're welcome.
Next time (for anyone) copy down BOTH sets of numbers on top of the radio, these are worldwide and not country related. Any dealer anywhere should be able to get the code using those.
These are what I used, not the VIN
