S70 98 N/A Tires 15 or 16"

I have a set of 195 60 15's on spica winters

I have a set of Spicas, Ariannes, and Meteors (16")

I saw a pretty decent deal on 195 65 15s but 195 60 15s are quite rare and thus more expensive.

Can I use 65s without any issue?
Also am i able to use 205 55 16s without realigning if i wanted to have 16" summer tires and my 15" spica winters

I know the gas cap says 195 60 15. But i did save teh Ariannes from my wagon,
The meteors are abit heavier, Is there any downside to using a 16" tire on a non turbo?

Yes you can use 195/65/15.
Yes you can use 205/55/16,my car came from the factory with 16" Persus wheels. You can use 17" as well.
Allignment should be done ONLY after tie rods replacement or disturbing, wheels or tires replacement have nothing to do with it.

The tires are a little bit different in size, but as mentioned above should fit:

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
195/60-15 4.6in 12.1in 24.2in 76.1in 833 0.0%
205/55-16 4.4in 12.4in 24.9in 78.2in 811 2.7%

205/50-16 would be the closer choice to your original stock size.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
195/60-15 4.6in 12.1in 24.2in 76.1in 833 0.0%
205/50-16 4.0in 12.0in 24.1in 75.6in 838 -0.6%

No alignment is needed. The only downside to 16" wheels and smaller sidewall tires is the ride quality does get a bit harsher on poor roads. In my opinion it's still tolerable when compared to stepping up to 17" rims.

Volvo officially switched to 55 profile for 205/55/16 about 15-17 years ago...and maybe more. ;)

The rims being heavier is why I will feel a rougher drive on bad roads? or just the sidewall being 5 or 10 less, If i go for 205 50 16s are those the tires that usually have the bad sidewalls that get bulged, IVe never had that on 15" tires so that may be a reason to stick to the 195 60 15s or 65 15s if they are certain to work.

I keep seeing the 16s for Turbo cars only.

But everybody says a 16 will work for my car

I just dont want to spend good money on new tires and have it be wasted

There is continental pro contact tx tires or Pirelli p4 / p7 tires for around the same price. It was only the 195 65 15s i could save about 50$ on I didnt know if it was worth the savings to put a 65 on vs 60.

They have Kumhos for like 150$ cheaper, But im really hesitant to throw kumhos on my car, Not sure why

Mine is not a turbo and came from the factory with 16" Persus wheels.
You can also put 17" from R model without problems.
With 18" you would have a pretty tough and nasty ride since the profile on 18" would be around 30-35.
Kumho,Yokohama,Hankook....they are all excellent brands.

The only exception are 2.0 or 2.5 10v cars which are underpowered a bit.I would go with 15" with them since they don't have much of power and are not fast at all.Max speed is the same, but there is a lack of power because of low hp for that chasis.

My car is a non turbo 98 its a 2.5 20V when i look at the wikipedia its still abit slow. but definitely not as slow as the 10v models

Would you still recommend 15s for me? I could resell my 16s easily, they are Meteors.

In terms of rims, I have a set of Spicas for Winter tires. Do the different model rims have alot of weight differential? I have sets of Antlia, Ariane and the Meteors i mentioned but those are 16. I have another set of spicas but i was reluctant to use them because the primacy mxv4 tires i have on them i think i could still resell for decent $. People typically pay 200-250$ for a set of rims and tires up here which is alot of the cost towards new tires.

When i got this s70 it came with 2 sets of rims and i already had 2 sets of rims from my other 850, so rims are quite abundant, I want to use my best set here.

KUMHO KH25 are really cheap, Like for 360$ installed I can get a set of 195 65 15s. They dont have 195 60 15s. But if theres no fault or fowl in using 65s Im almost sold on the kumhos if they are decent enought

My other options are Pirelli p4 for 500 installed or Continental Procontact TX for 480 installed

All of these tire options are 2017 mfg, I could do some shady off shelf deals, But canada is quite a shitshow for tire deals, I miss going to tire rack in the usa.

Thanks for the help btw, Tires seem like a big thing so i dont want to waste the $ as even if this volvo dies ill get another and the tires wont goto waste.

I had a really bad experience with brand new KUMHOs on my 98 V70. I wouldn't touch them with a 10 ft. pole.
Les is more.

The continentals in question have some reviews about bad sidewalls too, So it seems a good tire is hard to find.

I for sure wont notice any difference if i run 195 65 15s on here compared to the 195 60 15s i run in the winter?

There are the 2 tires im considering not sure what the difference is really between them Im seeing more tread wear raiting on the p4s. But otherwise These both look like good choices?? these are both the ones that are just under 500 cad installed our cad is 30% weaker then the usd.
