Driving without DIM connected?

Post by Botbasher »

Afternoon all!!!

OK, I finally have enough glitches in my cluster that I am going to send it in and have it properly fixed. I have reflowed it several times now and I can't rid myself of the errors so I think a component has finally died! I found a place that'll do lifetime warranty and not take half the cars value for it... so I'm down for it!!

The question I have is, can you still drive the car without it or will I need to make the 98 drive able before I do this? I am thinking that I should be able to jump the CAN-BUS lines IN to OUT and other than the SRS and DIM errors, everything else should work OK, correct?

Am I missing something that I simply haven't experienced yet? Has anyone else done this? There are slim pickings on the search for Without-DIM-Driving, so I am hoping that someone who's tried this can chime in!

Thanks!!
