Well the Volvo bug has bitten me. It happened at the worse time I need to pay off some bills, but I found a 1998 V70 T5M not running. The owner said it needed a Crank Position Sensor. Which turned into an engine..... I got it for $900 and figured it was the engine.
So now on to the engine replacement!
I´m planning on adding Bilstien TCs
C70 Wheels SILVER PROPUS
Git it back to Stage 0
and maybe a GROM

Welcome to p80 Volvos. They are fun and fairly easy to work on, especially with the info found here on this site.
But be warned: these cars are quite pricey to get back to stage 0, and react bad to non OE parts.

The only possible reason I can think of for not posting pics is that you sold everything you own, including your cell phone, to afford the car. Maybe we can take up a collection to help you out.

Make sure he replaces the rear main seal, clutch, water pump/timing belt/idler/tensioner, oil cooler lines, oil pickup tube o-rings, PCV, and turbo coolant hoses, in that order of priority, while he's in there. Much easier to do all that work with the engine out of the car. You'll have a fully-sorted motor for minimal extra cost if you do all that.
That's a few hundred in parts, but thousands of dollars' worth of labor that can be done in a few hours, and the engine will be ready to go for the next decade. Totally worth the investment.

And ask him to take a good critical look at the steering rack. That one's not something to replace as preventive maintenance, but if it feels sloppy or looks leaky, it's worth doing with the engine out as well. Parts are not cheap, though, and steering racks are not an especially weak point on these cars, so don't replace it preemptively.

Really? I don't think so. No problems on both of my racks.j-dawg wrote: ↑29 Jul 2017, 22:00 And ask him to take a good critical look at the steering rack. I've pulled the engine a few times, and I always check the rack - I agree completely with j-dawg. Once I replaced the rack because one side was leaking slightly, even though it was working perfectly. It is a trivial job with the engine out.
