Fuel System? - Can someone describe system in 2001 V70XC

Post by dtlayman »

Can someone describe fuel system on the 2001 V70XC or similar cars? Tank design? - are there 2?, Pump design?, Filters?, Relays?, Other? We have had problems that seems to be related to fuel system and it looks like many others have as well. It would be great for those with these problems to have a clear understanding.

Thanks.

You have asked this in a couple of places now,
WHAT exactly do you want to know?

I can read about the general fuel delivery system in a car on some other websites or in a book, but it would be nice to know the specifics for these cars. Maybe this would help us figure out what is going on with our cars. In our case, we have had intermittent stalling.

After driving for several hours on interstate, in the summer, lower than 1/4 tank of gas car has stalled 3 times (approx. 70k, and 2x around 105k). Not accelerating, downhill, uphill, or in a turn. Car will be running great, no sign of something about to go wrong, no stumbling engine right before it happens, but the next second you notice that something has quietly occured. Although i don't know if this is correct it seems that the engine is slowing, no response when pressing on gas pedal, you notice the rpms dropping gradually over a couple of seconds, and as you put the hazards on and try to get out of traffic to the side of the road the car loses power and you lose power brakes and steering.
