MVS Eclipse travelers thread

My house only gets 99.9% but 25 miles North at my mother's house it is totality. I think I will visit my mother.

I was making a deposit at the bank last week and they have stacks of eclipse glasses at the teller window so I snagged a couple of pairs.

Yep, Casper is right in the path. I'm pretty excited. Not once-in-a-lifetime, perhaps, but once in a few decades. The total eclipse scheduled for 2024 will cut right through my slice of Central Texas, but I doubt I'll be living here by then. Could be worth a return trip.

Just between two rounds of thunderstorms it cleared up enough to make it worth the drive (which was not unlike getting to Arrowhead Stadium for a playoff game, except it was 25 miles long).

What did catch me by surprise is that I think every moron with a pilots license swarmed the area at about two minutes till totality. It had that "Pearl Harbor" kind of feel to it.

I was in northern Missouri and saw pretty much that same image - great how the clouds opened up just in time. Strange to see sunset no 360 degrees of horizon during the totality.

Charleston was getting pretty crappy, so last-minute I bailed and drove about an hour West. Turns out it was a good call!

Hey guys thanks for posting your pictures! I was driving back from Vermont to Ohio and the only dark skies I saw was from my wife when I allegedly was going to fast.

Even the ~90% we got to see in north/central Indiana was still an experience.

Light was dim enough that the crickets started chirping loudly as if it was nighttime and the birds all disappeared for about 20 minutes or so.

I'm just east of Charlotte, NC and it got pretty dark here. Nothing too extreme, but it was pretty cool. The eclipse produces an interesting light, that's for sure!
Unfortunately I didn't have any glasses to look at it, but I did catch some cool looking shadows through some trees.

In Atlanta the eclipse cast these crescent shaped shadows through the trees onto my V70.
