A couple of months or so ago I drove a XC90 with the i6 engine. Cannot remember the year but think it was a 2007 but not firm on that it may have been an 08/9. Reason for this is when I drove that vehicle, I loved the drivers' seat as it was able to adjust the seat length to support my legs better. It was great.
Today I went to an auction and saw an 06 XC90 V8 which I expected to be the top of the line and would have that feature, but it did not. Was this a 07 model addition, and option or what? Does anyone know?
Also, was BLIS and option and what year was that added as either standard or an option.
Many thanks,
Neil.

Clearly I must be taking something as I talked to the dealer sales manager today and he said they never offered that until the current version, but I am 100% certain I sat on a seat in an XC90 (it was a I6 motor as that is the only one I have driven) and I believe it was an 07 year, maybe an 09. However, I am always dubious of sales people, even Volvo ones being sure of anything they sell!
This is weird. Can't believe no one can help with this or definitively put me out of my misery and tell me I have lost it!
Thanks,
Neil.

Some one I know e-mailed me and said adjustable seat cushions were not an option until the current models in 2014. So what the hell was in that XC90 I drove? My buddy said there may be a sports seat option but I have never heard of one and in an XC90 I6?

Don't know about the seats but BLIS was an option on my 2006 XC90 (round rear tail lights) as it's mentioned in the 2006 MY owner's manual. Apparently the Volvo system has a 9m rear view which gives plenty of warning.
Afew nights ago I was behind a current model Kia Sportage with BLIS. I needed to be about 2m behind the bumper right in the blind spot before the little light on the mirror would come on. If I were accelerating and the driver changed lane based on his BLIS signal it would be too late and we would have collided. Some car makers just don't know the meaning of a safety system.

Thanks for the info on BLIS. I know it was an option but is a nice to have if available with a vehicle.

Are you certain the seat length dimension was changing or were you adjusting the tilt of the seat bottom to support your legs? This is done by pressing up or down on the forward edge of the horizontal button. The rearward edge of that button up and down adjusts the seat height.
If that's what you were doing I will say both my sisters '03 XC90 and my '06 S60 have the tilt adjustment.

Neil, you're speaking of something like BMW's thigh support panel on their seats, right?
If so, I can't recall ever seeing anything like it in the world of Volvo seats, unfortunately. I could use longer seats in every car I get into (except BMWs with this option).

I have clearly lost it as I am talking about what you have said Matthew. I know Audi offered this way back in the 90's also. I will have to ask the dealer if they can track the car down so I can talk to the owner as this is driving me ever crazier!
Thanks for the input guys.
Neil

Doesn't the new S90 have this? It looks like, not sure if it also extends.

The SPA platform models (xc90, s90, v90, and now xc60) have thigh extension on the Inscription or also on other models with sport seat group. There is an added control to allows these to be adjusted.
Some of the XC90 seats have the cushion up down in the frame where backrest cushion stays put and the lower cushion only moves. These can make the lower cushion seem to jut forward when come combinations of back angle and lower cushion angle are selected.
