Lumbar support repair

Post by bk404 »

So I posted in a generic question thread a few weeks back regarding this and a bunch of other issues. But I wanted to try to keep this thread strictly about the seats.

I've got an 04 S60R with a broken drivers side lumbar support. You turn the knob and nothing happens. I've heard that sometimes the cable in the lumbar mesh break, though upon looking at a volvo parts site, I can't find the part anywhere. Instead I get something that looks like number 6.

rather than this.

If I went about replacing the seat, would I be okay with the airbag assuming I do it all while the power is off?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Post 1998 the airbags are fired electronically, not by impact, so they are safer to work on. Do remember to disconnect your battery, and don't reconnect until the seat is back in and all connections are confirmed or you will have to pay a $150 dealer tax for an SRS reset.
