Got burned badly ( not literally ) on an old battery during this event. WCm battery was flat, so I grabbed a battery that had been on charge last week, tested voltage at 12.6. All good. I threw it in charger for an hour before leaving.

Ran it out, we installed it, now measuring 11.0 volts. Ugh.

Luckily , I had brought generator as remote charger do we had an 8 amp source of electrons

Oh yeah, the alternator job SUCKS. It's easier when the last owner didn't forget to replace one of the bolts, then I have to play the "where does this one go?" game.
I assume they're all in the right place. I just have to get one from the junkyard that's missing.

Crap - I swore to Roy that I put the belt over the idler last - but in this thread I said I put it on the PS pulley.

Hmm, won't let me edit to take that last picture off, or I'm an idiot, or both...

The alternator gets wedged between the upper AC mount and the block and in order to get the alternator out you have to loosen the bottom two AC compressor bolts about a 1/2" each, then you remove both upper ones. There is a bolt on the left of the alternator through the mount... Now start man handling and screaming obscenities at it...

Of course this assumes you already removed the 3 bolts that keep the power steering pump on and moved it out of the way...

And Abscate's signature holds true, the computer modules likely took a pretty big AC blast and lived... The headlamps and fog lights, not so much.

You should have seen me the idiot over diagnosing the headlight failure.. Both lie beams out, high beams good, I was ready to tear into circuits and switches when wcm says... " maybe we should check the bulbs..."

Always start at the cheapest and easiest repair diagnosing

Of course I spent the entire day doing the opposite...
