Okay, so I'm suspecting that you don't have a Regina car, or pulling that fuse would absolutely keep the car from running, so you've got LH. The only things you are disabling when you pull that fuse is the prepump and the heater circuit for the 02 sensor. Try putting the fuse back in, and disconnecting the 02 sensor. Green wire, under the hood on the passenger side, little white connector. Do you have a similar run, but not well, situation? Next, have you read the codes? Obviously, you will now have the code for the 02 sensor, but...you may also get some other codes that will lead you in the direction of whether or not another sensor has affected the 02 sensor's operation, or if it was acting out all by itself.

Just got around to checking my post and find it full of good advice from several people - I just want to say thanks to everyone for reading my post and helping out....
I am going to try the suggestions - great stuff - this week-end and hopefully the vehicle will get it on once again...I will be back when all that gets done -hopefully to thank everyone for getting us on the road....
Anyway thanks again to all...

Well I have tried almost everything everyone suggested with the exception of a code reader - there just does not seem to be one lying around anywhere on our island - and still she does not roll (or start).
I tried soldering the fuel pump relay but no dice - maybe my technique was off - so I am going ahead and ordering a new relay.
Trying also included undoing and brushing all the grounds that LaRy was so kind in pointing out location to.
Anyway so many nice folks chimed in I just wanted to give a Hawaiian Shout-Out (Maholo or thanks) to you guys...
I hope that it is just that relay!

Maholo Nui to you friend!

Since yours is 93' you'll have OBD 1- can be read without a code reader, very easy, let us know what you findwhale wrote:Well I have tried almost everything everyone suggested with the exception of a code reader -

Duh - well I for sure never knew this (about the inboard code reader) but as soon as I can get a friend with a functioning IQ I will try this out....I guess my IQ or VQ in this case was also not so functional.....
Well since I am all in on the knowledge department, I guess asking one more dumb and quite possibly obvious question won't lower my VQ any lower so here goes: my psychic sense (actually quite under developed) tells me I might have an LH system but how can I tell for sure?
Deciphering the VIN # only tells me that I have an "alternate fuel/ignition system" and I need to know for sure. Looked in vain for any other strickers per the on-line information but no luck.
And well I guess I have two questions: and the last is simply this - is it at all possible to hot-wire a Volvo? Inquiring minds wish to know!
Thanks again to all who posted in my behalf - i am getting an education and really dirty hands, but my grounds are good and my mind is clean.

whale, your 93' has a Regina system, the LH only came on the turbo that year
www.volvotechinfo.com has the fault tracing service manual for Regina - TP31903/1 (you might find it on ebay) the codes will give you clues which you can trace to the source of your anguish. Hang in there!

As time goes by a dark cloud of confusion seems to spread rather than abate because of what Alann wrote: that the '93 Volvo non-turbo is a Regina System.
When I interpret the VOLVO VIN # as per the SwedishBricks Web Page it deciphers my VIN (YV1JS88 etc) in the 88 reference as a LH2.4 engine!
Can anyone please confirm or deny either or of these seemingly contradictory references?
In a related issue, is it possible to hot-wire a Volvo? It is too big for an anchor.

oops, somehow I could not log-on previously but it was me, whale, who posted the message above...I am coming to the conclusion that my '93 Volvo has more electronic stuff than Apollo 1 and i have less brain cells than i need to get to the bottom of this...
Anyway thanks to all who have tolerated my confusion and semi-competency - I will strive to not surrender until we have ignition and self-propelled movement....

Greetings,
I am respectfully placing one last post before I seriously consider turning the Volvo into an anchor and buying a VW.
Based on excellent and helpful advice for which I am truly grateful, I have:
Uncovered and reconnected all major grounds with appropriate vigor thanks to LaRy.
Replaced Fuel Pump Relay and Regulator, Throttle Switch. This after re-solder did not fix.
Made sure we have gas flow and spark. Even sprayed Carburetor Cleaner Down Air Intake to see if it would fire, but it would not.
Discovered onboard diagnostic unit thanks to Alan N. Ran Tests and read codes as per instructions at the BRICKYARD on-line and came up with everything normal

Last I remember, the car would run if you pulled the number 11 fuse. Is this still the case?
