Power window issue 1992 740 wagaon

Post by dw601 »

I had asked awhile back but cant find my post anymore.
So here goes again..

I have a 92 740 wagon, and all but the passenger front window have quit working. The window control panel on the drivers door was working fine, now it is totally inop..The front passenger door will work with it's own switch, but thats the only one.

They all worked fine, then one day I had it loaded down with junk on the inside, and the car started switching on and off,I replaced a 30 amp breaker,in the main fuse panel and it stoped that stuff, but,,,the windows didnt come back. This all started at the same time,so I have to think they are related...

Anyone have a diagram for the power window cricuit please?

Thanks for looking..

Well Bill.I cant make all of the diagram out when I enlarge it,it goes all pixelly on me..

What fuse is that up at the top?

I have checked the switches for voltage, and only the rt/ft has any.The drivers door has none, but the switches for the mirrors have voltage and work fine.

I have checked all the fuses and none are blown(in the white or forward fuse block)..Is there a way to remove the front fuse pannel to get too the relays behind it? Or,am I climbing the wrong tree?..lol

Thanks for your help and replies.

Big whoops!!! I had set my scanner to a very low dpi for something else and forgot to reset it.

The fuse is #8, 30 amp.

The relay board is attached to the fuse board. You will find two plastic catches in there, release them and slide the whole unit out into the car. Make sure the gear shift is out of the way so it doesn't foul it.

The only relay in there that could affect the windows is J which is an overload relay for the windows and seat heater. As you have power to one switch I would think the relay will be OK. More likely a wiring fault somewhere.

If you need the wiring diagram on a higher resolution let me know, at the latest tomorrow, as I am off into the wide blue yonder of Scotland on Sunday for up to 2 weeks. Computer and phone strictly forbidden in my motorhome.
