Look on the bottom of the relay. There are 4 terminal numbers molded into the plastic. 31, 31B, 87, and 15. Run a jumper wire between the socket locations associated with pin 87 and pin 15. If the pump works that should bring it to life.

It sounds to me like the fuel pump itself rather than the relay or the filter.

Will I be able to drive it that way or is this just a way to make sure the pump is working? From what I see about this relay it looks like they just over engineered it, but I don't know what else it may be doing.
My concern with driving it is that the ECU may be turning it on and off as needed to keep from going over pressure in the system.

You can drive it that way without any problem. When you reach your destination remove the jumper wire to keep the pump from running full time.

Thanx Lee :D

David, you told me last night that a Mustang 5.0 fuel pump will interchange with my car. In case it turns out that is what I need, exactly which one was it? I keep thinking you said 1990 Mustang 5.0. Is that correct? I sure hope so. It is about $150 cheaper than what they are saying the Volvo costs and the Volvo is not in stock. But, the Mustang is :D

What I read on another board was a '91 Mustang 5.0. It has the same flow rate as the one in your car. Good luck!

I had to get it towed home the last ~20 miles. I got back out there, tried to use a jumper and it would not even attempt to start. There is no gas or pressure at the fuel rail.
It is sitting in my driveway and now I can work on it at my leisure. I am going to pull the pump and take it with me to the parts store. We have an Advance Auto Parts that is open 24 hours a day on Clinton Hwy 8) and they have the pump above in stock :D

Before I pulled the pump I decided to try just changing the filter. Well I changed the filter and am getting gas to the fuel rail. I am not however running. I tried to start it and nothing happened. So, I checked the valve at the end fof the fuel rail and I had gas and pressure there.
Needless to say I am not going to buy a fuel pump when I am getting pressure to the rail.
I am at a loss as what to try next. I am also not getting any codes from the computer. I am about ready to have it taken to a Volvo place over on Bruin, here in Knoxville. I at least have an old pickup I can drive for now.

Don't know the guy on Bruin....I do know that AutoDynamics on the corner of Central and Heiskel know what they're doing. Other option is a good mechanic (and very very reasonable too) in Sweetwater.

Here is a link to the guy on Bruhin.
http://swedishcarpartsandservice.com/contact.html

I went and did a check on Angie's list and Autodynamics has a listing there. It is positive.
I called just in case they were open today. No one answered so I left a message for them to call me back. Hopefully they will call first thing in the morning.

Okay, the guy on Bruin- the Volvo graveyard.
I've met the guy. He mostly works on older RWD Volvo's. He might know what to do with your car- I'm not sure.
