Problems removing MAF
I have a 2007 XC70 2.5 with Turbo and I get a potential MAF error from DICE. I am trying to remove the MAF housing to clean the MAF and the accordion hose is brutely tight (Gear clamp is removed!) Is there a trick to removing the accordion hose ? My preference would be to take the housing right off to clean the sensor. Thanks

Thanks. I don't see a pic of the green tool itself. Sounds like it is just holds the hose securely? I thought about heating the accordion hose a little.

Sorry for trying to be cute. I took stiff cord and bound up,the accordion hose firmly to the motor mount and torque rod after disconnecting the MAF housing. With the accordion hose firm;y held, grasp the MAF and twist and pull it out///

It comes off easier when the engine bay/plastic is very warm to hot. The plastic intake tube is more stretchy and easier to pry off the MAF when it's warm. In the winter on a cold engine you can pretty much forget about trying to get that apart.

Last time I struggled with that hose on the MAF I used a heat gun and it just slipped off. Motor was already warm and it wouldn't budge. A hair dryer would achieve the same thing.

I leave it bolted to the airbox, put the hose in a headlock, work it aside to side and twist a flatblade screwdriver in the joint.. leverage . Silicone when it goes back.

Very light touch with that silicone if needed, as it is a poison to the OXS sensors

Thanks for the suggestions. I just removed the MAF by securing the accordion hose using the rope method and then warming up the hose with a heat gun. After warming the hose it came apart rather easily. If you warm the hose I don't think you need to secure it - gonna simplify and just try heat next time. Thanks again.
