Hy foxs !
I've have putted the generator, the steering pump and the air conditionner compressor away to access to their support which needs to be replace. The screw of the pulley (6) is over, the screw thread is over and it would cost me more to get tools to prepare than change the part. So...

Didn't do anything on any of my cars today, but made a successful run to the 2 PnP's locally. Needed parts for the 2 sets of roof bars I have for my P80's and there happened to be 2 cars, each one fitted with the 2 types of roof cross-bars. Got all the parts I needed, and also found a rear arm rest with the built in booster seat in black. I have promised one of these in exchange for some parts I was given recently, but the one they were going to be taking was in oak/taupe when their car was black. So happy to be able to pass one on in the correct color!
Went to the other PnP as they had got a 05 XC90 in with a good grille. Couldn't believe it was still there as the car has been there for a few days. I have been looking for one for our 06 XC70 for about 6 years and they never come up for sale. 01-04 for come up all the time but not 05-07. So a successful trip!
Neil.

I have this bad habit of just going at it and not taking pictures. Was seeing problems with water getting into the rear tail lamp assemblies and making little puddles at the bottom of the reverse and turn signal reflector areas (2006 S60). I know if this isn't stopped it will eventually ruin the reflective mirror coating in there. So I tracked down a thin super squishy neoprene door/window seal about 1/16" thick and applied it on top of the existing rubber seal at the back of he lamp assemblies. You have to press on the lamp assembly when you're screwing it back on to close the gap to the car body. I did this a week ago. Torrential rains in the area yesterday and success! No water whatsoever made it's way into the tail lamp assemblies. I also stretched a couple pieces of silicone based garden barrier 'fabric' across the back of the lamp assemblies to help keep dust out of them. A strip of gorilla tape across the top just above the lamp assemblies and a couple small holes that slip over the bolt studs to hold in in place. It breathes and won't hold moisture but should block most of the dust. When I need to change a bulb it detaches easily.
The fabric I found in my sister's stash of gardening stuff. Looked expensive. I was scrounging around the house for something suitable, thinking I would end up at Ace for a sheet of that generic AC filter material they sell (a porous open cell poly foam about 1/4" thick) and came across sis' roll of high end landscape fabric and thought 'this is perfect!!!"

Timing belt on my 1999 kicked me in the teeth. Stuck trying to put it back on.

After driving my 98 POS70 for three years, always having to add water, I finally put in the heater core that I've had since spring. Wow, it will allow the windows to clear rather than make them worse! Also a set of jewels and a blacked out XC grill. Just because I had them.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )

1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Today POS70 got new RH LCA (Lemf or Meyle), end link and used strut from 99 V/R. (oops, strut will need to come back out, bump stop is toast. (I have some and spring seats in a box somewhere.) I'll do that when I do the LH side. Plus that side will get a JY driveshaft, this one is way past it.

Make sure you crack loose the 12mm tensioner bolt and press the finger all the way clockwise, and slowly work the belt on the intake cam (once it's on all the other pulleys).

wcm and I kicked butt today
Figured out my cam lock tool (eBay) wasn't made correctly - it locked up cams ok but not in correct place. You don't need it to put belt back on other than to tighten the T55 on the CVVT cam, so that was ok, but good to know.
We got the belt back on by loosening both the tensioner and the idler - then I took up slack underneath the crank pulley, passed the slack up to wcm who then easily mounted the belt on the water pump and tensioner.
Set tensioner, double checked timing marks, and fired it up. CVVT noise was gone, but had a new growl - removed the serpentine belt, and noise gone - AC, alternator and PS all quiet. found serpentine tensioner is growling - will replace.
For reference , on a 1999, there are 19 timing belt teeth from immediate right of mark to the immediate right of mark on the intake cam.
Finished early, so we did a Gibbons flush on wcm transmission and moved 8 liters of ATF through it.

I believe the ATF may have been orig. It came out like curdled chocolate milk. We now at least have a red-ish tint to it.

I need to replace my serpentine belt tensioner too, along with the idler, an alternator bolt, and that stupid freaking oil cooler thermostat. My engine just rattles and sounds awful right now.
I wish someone had a reason as to why the oil cooler t-stats fail. Mine has made that awful moaning every single day since probably April. No matter if it's 55 degrees or 95 degrees, it'll moan. Only the first start of the day, at least, but it's still annoying.
I have one more ATF drain and fill to go. Already done two changes so far with pretty much right at 3.5 quarts each time. I have almost 200 miles since last week's change, so it's time for a third and final change and it's good to go for a while. It's amazing the difference in how the car shifts. It's incredibly smooth now!
