ERG vacuum Booster

1991 Volvo 240 California car, 130,000 miles. Exploring the ERG system. got a trouble code (4-1-3). Checked as much as I could and found nothing wrong. Got a suggestion to check the ERG Vacuum Booster (aka ERG vacuum servo, Erg vacuum motor). Specifically to remove the little round plastic top and check to be sure the little filter in there has not deteriorated. I am reluctant to pry on this plastic piece lest it break. Anyone out there tried this?
