Ok so yesterday I FINALLY cracked down and got deeeeeeep into my practically free S70. Deteriorated vacuum hoses everywhere being replaced, and PCV system being serviced.
Well I decided that while I was in there, I'd inspect the compressor bypass valve. Of course it's screwed and sourcing the replacement diaphragm locally was basically not a thing at all. So I took to the ol' internet and ran into a few possibilities.
1: stock replacement from ebay
2: block off plate and install BOV [not much of a point besides the venting sound]
3: upgraded CBV??? Seems to up my boost. Yay!
I'm really feeling option 3 and upgrading...looks like IPD has this set here. Does anyone have any experience with the kit? Would there be any significant improvement in power? Any supporting mods I should consider? Thanks!

I bought the kit several years ago (maybe 4-5?) but can't really help you on how it works as it is still in the box. On my car with the 19T turbo it is the only one where you have to actually remove the turbo to install it. On the other turbos, 13G, 15G, 16T, 18T (I think that is right you can remove the CBV with the turbo installed. There are 2 sets of springs in the kit if I recall for regular use (up to 13-14psi boost?) and another for higher. I bought it for the higher boost as my car runs nearer 19psi with the Rica tune. Never fitted it as I said as A) the OE is still running ok, and B) because like I siad you have to pull the 19T turbo to fit it which is a RPITA on an AWD P80. It will have to wait until it breaks or I have time and access to a hoist.
If you need the h igher tune then the IPD version is worth considering, but if you plan to run the car as standard, I'd stick to OE spec.
I have read good reports on the IPD version back when I bought it but can't say if the quality is as it was.
Neil.

Thanks for the response. Im not sure which specific trim my turbo is but I do know that I was able to remove the CBV without taking the turbo off, but it was a massive pain. I was limited to a 10mm box wrench and 1/8th turns. The diaphragm was technically intact, but was sucked into the housing. It's off and the car is patiently waiting for a new one. Most of the vacuum line work has been done.
I have to say, it's happy with the work I've done so far. Even with the entire charge pipe system removed and a lot of vac lines still disconnected, it runs smoother than it ever has. I'm excited to get it all buttoned up.

Good luck with the refurbishment process! The GLT motor uses the low pressure turbo, not sure which turbo that uses, possibly the 13G or 15G. Not had a GLT. The V70 XC in 98 had the 13G.

Well I ended up sourcing a used CBV from the local pick n pull. It had one in really good shape, so I figured why the hell not? Also grabbed the driver's seat that was in decent enough shape as well as the carpet and drivers side mirror glass.

Well done. Im running the IPD blue on my 99 (different Turbo, T5) and I enjoy receding images of BMW in my mirror and watching them read my bumper sticker "Mom's hauler'
They get their little blue and white propellers all spinny-mad.

That's so nice of you to pull over to the side and spin them up so they could start moving. I guess you got tired of watching the traffic tied up in the rear view mirror?
That explains the sudden movement in traffic on the way to work last Friday evening on Delaware.
