Hi gang, I have a 1995 940 U.S. with the b230 engine.
My Temp gauge is wonky and does not work or is erratic. Was going to start with the Thermostat, then Temp sensor. But my Chilton book has a terrible engine parts diagram.
Can anyone give me an idea, or point me to a decent diagram, of which sensor is the ECT
Any other tips would be helpful.
Thank You

No, there is nothing there. My engine is not sideways, maybe that helps. There are 2 under the 2cnd Cylinder (counting front to back) and a white capped one under the 3rd, that I just saw.
Thanks though.
Thanks though.

Look down between intake manifold runners 3 and 4. You'll find the ECT. But the ECT has no connection to the temperature gauge. The temperature sender is closer to the front of the cylinder head under the intake. If your gauge is wonky check for a bad wiring connection at the sender.

Ok. So that would be one of the 2 I referred to. Is that the one that is just a bolt with a sleeve over it, which would kinda make sense (if so, is it called simply the temp. sensor). I pulled that out to match it to the ECT I bought. It has the same connector as the ECT but it is a black connector with a metel clip vs. white for the ECT. Or is it the one above the that black one that is a larger grey half moon shaped connecter, with larger pins.
My understanding was that one is the ECT, one is for the radiator fan and one a knock sensor?, but that may be totally wrong.
Thank You
