That picture shows the rotor already removed. The hub nut does not need to be removed. The only thing remotely unusual is the 7mm Hex bit that holds on the calipers. The rest is just bolts.

You will need something to hammer off the old rotor as most of them are rusted on. A couple of whacks with a 5 lb. sledge will generally pop it loose.

Hey Lee and hello mag110,

This is one of the more mysterious posts which intrigues me. Looks like there are some trick susp. mods. I'm guessing mag110 needs to remove the hub and my question would be why?

Hi mag110

We here at MVS like to help folks but sometimes we need more info because the original post isn't clear. I can only assume that you are attempting to remove the hub to perform another repair that has nothing to do with rotors. Or maybe you just have a warped hub... :?:

I am going to guess that once you removed the cotter pin and attempted to remove the hub nut with the appropriate socket while the transmission is in park you are having difficulty getting movement?

If I'm batting 1000 so far I am going to GUESS that the spindle has reverse threads and you may be tightening as opposed to loosening the part in question. I HAVE NEVER REMOVED AN 850 HUB.

I would like to know why the hub removal so that you aren't doing something unneccessarily... :)

It takes a 36 mm socket, a can of PB Blaster, and hopefully an air impact wrench. If you don't have an impact wrench get a 3/4" drive socket and a 3/4" drive breakover bar. You will need to add a 4 or 5 foot pipe to extend the breakover bar and then you will likely need to jump on the pipe to break it loose. Soak it with the PB Blaster overnight before you even try.

I still can't figure out why you are wanting to remove the nut to change the rotor. :?:

I think that is actually a picture of MIJ's suspension.

Not my pictures (just one I "borrowed"). However, please note that the not is NOT reverse threaded. You just need the PB Blaster over-night at least, than then an extension and really jump on it....that is if you don't have an air-wrench.

OK, I'm going to assume your brother broke the wheel lugs off when he was removing the wheel. It might be better for you to just replace the wheel hub. It'll be about the same money and you'll end up with a new wheel hub/bearing. Here are two links. One is for ordering a new hub and the other is step by step instructions for removing the wheel hub.
