I'd do the stage 0 even if the car has this low a mileage. Fluids still age even if you don't put miles on it.

Water pump should be ok, but for piece of mind you may want to replace it while in there, especially as the coolant should be changed too.

Nice find!

The belt is due on time but not horribly overdue. The manual actually says 105 miles, 14 years for the TB and hardware. If it's going to be a daily driver in DC I would do it all except the water pump. Change the coolant and learn how to inspect the pump for weeps and listen for bearing sounds. The OEM PUMP is the best one this car will ever have. I just did a CVVT hub on my 99 and left my 200k water pump in place, then drove the car 700 miles

Steve are you sure about the 14 years, I always thought it was 10.
Also, a 200k water pump is a ticking timebomb IMHO. But this is coming from someone who payed dearly because the WP blew and took the timing belt out.

I wouldn't do the water pump, they can be changed every 2nd belt. The OEM pump is very robust, mine is original with 242,000 km and no signs of leaks. It also fails safe and leaks slightly rather than seizing.

I would agree, stage zero with all fluids changed is wise. I would inspect the belts for cracks, but its not a bad idea for peace of mind to replace.

I do every third timing belt on the water pump. Definitely wouldn't change it! The tensioner and roller are probably OK until the next belt but I'd change them both now or in the spring, just to have a fresh start. Would replace the serp belt too for peace of mind.

Not mine, no leaks prior to failure and the bearing just fell apart in an instant while driving on the highway. The damage was nasty and I don't wish this to happen to anyone.
If you are in there doing the TB what's another $80 or so for insurance, especially at 200k miles? Makes no sense to me not to do it.

To the OP: Pretty sweet find with that low mileage.

Timing belt for the P80 according to Volvo dealer here is 8 years and 130,000km. Maybe it is a environmental issue (profit issue)?

The water pump has been on the vehicle for a long time, not being driven much, so the bearing has still been under strain for all those years. Sure a pump can do 200,000 miles, but the cost of replacing the pump with a new OE one is a lot less than a TB failure due to a failed pump bearing. If you plan to keep the beauty for a long time, then worth the investment now! I look at it as a 'while I am in there..." job. Maybe there is a reason I spend so much on my cars!

If you spend up for an OE water pump it wouldn't be a bad investment, true. But it does add a disproportionate amount of time to the TB job (cleaning the mounting surface).

Lots of good advice so far!
